NCR sells products that are capable of processing hundreds of personal checks and deposit slips (items) within minutes. These systems cannot process variable-format documents such as business checks, however, where information appears in many different locations. In many European countries where utility bills are paid by Automated Teller Machines (ATM), the user must enter data from various fields on the bill.
