User Needs Analysis

This service enables the NCR customer to understand essential characteristics of their users, the tasks these users must perform to achieve their goals, and the environment of use. The reason for providing this service are twofold: First, the user needs analysis will provide data regarding how customers currently interact with their business (e.g., what works and what does not work well). Second, the analysis will give direction relative to how the business’ products or services can be improved to optimize customer interaction.


User needs analysis: First-hand observation of customer’s needs, possibly including shadow visits, interviews, focus groups, and questionnaires.


Goal: First, the user needs analysis will provide data regarding how customers currently interact with their business (e.g., what works and what does not work well). Second, the analysis will give direction relative to how the business’ products or services can be improved to optimize customer interaction.

Resources: The typical User Needs Analysis will take 1-3 months and will require 1-2 cognitive engineers.

Deliverable: A report that summarizes data describing users, tasks and the environment. Recommendations regarding how a product or system could be improved to optimize customer interaction.
